horsepower guesses - new build going to the dyno
I'm headed to the engine dyno next Friday. I've got all morning reserved so I hope we have time after break in and calibration for some peak pulls. Just for fun - guess peak hp and tq and what speed they occur. Winner gets nothing!
383, 6.0 rod, ~10.5:1, 268XFI (218/224 .565/.570, 113 LSA), AFR 195cc street eliminator heads 2.05/1.60 valves, flows 275/213 at .500, miniram with BBK tb. 7727 speed density computer.
will be run on a superflow with electric water pump at 1200ft elevation with 91 pump gas. Not sure if the results will be corrected for SAE standard conditions.
I'll try to answer any other motor questions if more info is needed. I hope it meets expectation but trying not to get my hopes up for a big hp number. This combo probably won't be a big hp brag motor but should make good torque for a street machine.

400 hp at 5600 (I think this is low)
480 ftlbs at 3300.
I like the specs.

This is an engine dyno, not a chassis dyno, but i'm right in there with you guys. I thought putting 400tq to the tire would be fantastic.

I think you'll hit that number no problem. I don't know why I went so low on horsepower though.

On the engine dyno....so that'll "Gross". That's how he said he's measuring it.

With just the WP and no other accessories? I'd say right at about 475-500.

It will be interesting to see the numbers.
465TQ@3800RPM
485HP@5600RPM
FYI on a SF dyno the numbers should correct back to one of the SAE standards (J1349 or J607) depending on how old the Dyno data acquisition software is. The software does this automatically unless you go in and manually change it to display "raw numbers".

Drifting
450hp @ 5500
465tq @ 4500
I don't think that cam is large enough for it to rev out and make 500hp.

Dont worry about #s too much, sometimes simple combos are the best on the street..youll be able to haze the tires no worries there.

Smooth sailing all afternoon at the dyno. Ron @ R&R Performance has run over 9700 engines in his room and Jim from TPIS was doing the tuning, I just sat back and watched the professionals. Peak numbers occurred right where I thought they would. My honest reaction was surprised by the hp but just by a few. I thought it would have traded a few hp in favor of a couple more ft pounds, but I think this shows the sporty characteristic of the miniram. My little 268XFI I think would just flatline after 5800 with these heads but we saw some loss of valve control or possible ignition breakup in the 6300-6500 range.
