GM restoparts fuel assembly question (84 CFI)

GM restoparts fuel assembly question (84 CFI)
I ordered a fuel assembly for my 84 CFI, figuring the old parts were past their useful life, and replacing the assembly would be easier than piecing together a new assembly.
GM RESTORATION PARTS 25003533 is the one I ordered.
The installation was straight forward, and easier than I expected, until the final step, the electrical connector.
Everything looked fine, but the new male end wouldn't fit to the cars female receptacle.
Upon close examination, the "slots" cut in the prong sleeves on the replacement part are different from the cars harness.
I dont understand how this can be, as its supposed to be a genuine GM replacement part. But, it happened.
So I want to ask your opinion on this.
The new fuel system is installed, and I dont want to remove it, so ...
Should I cut away the plastic sleeves on the prongs to allow the male replacement part to fit the female on the car?
Or ..
Cut the original male off my old assembly and replace the one thats currently on the replacement part?
Im a bit miffed on this, I dont want to make a rash decision and cause myself more headaches, so I humbly ask the advice of those that may have had this issue before.
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if I havent been specific enough.

Leave your car harness alone and make your pigtail/fitting to fit the injector. Use the old parts and do some splicing.
If you do it currently you wont need more than an inch of the "jumper wire" for each connection.

A picture would be helpful. If the terminals are the same style as the original. The terminals and wires can be transferred from the new incorrect connector block to the old correct connector block.

Weather-pack connectors are 'indexed' so that in an assembly line situation you can't error. A 3 - terminal Weather-Pack is used multiple places in 80's and '90's assembly harnesses.

I've never seen a 4 but 0 - is NONE, 1 - 12:00, 2- clock-wise @ 90°, 3 - clock-wise @ 180°, 4 @ - 270. Way I recall it on paper they're opposite. One connector shell (in this case is 0 - 1 - 3 and the mating 'on paper' is 3 - 1 - 0) That's certainly best I recall. That's using information in the wiring diagrams of the '84 FSM.
Are you working now? The only concern I might have had was actually confirming the circuits involved. Could you have received a mis-packaged? Who knows. They actually may be using a very generic Weather-Pack that's intended for just conventional 'wire-wire'.
If your old shell is damaged in any way I believe I could help you with a correct number to replace it with. There's an email link under my user ID. Drop me an email if this interests you.
