With a struggle I pulled the old orifice tube out. It came out in pieces but I got it all out. I used an air hose to blow any other pieces out. It had the longest portion of the filter pointing up. Is that correct? Looking for diagrams but hard to find any for the installation of that part.

Will put new pump and dryer. Its been years since the car has been driven and longer for the A/C too I imagine. So after installing the filter I will charge it up and see what happens.

Long screen up is correct.

If orfice tube was clogged with debris, most likely from compressor failure. You should flush lines and condenser to get as much trash out as possible. There also are inline filters to catch trash before it gets to new orfice. You may want to consider.
