For real? Did you listen right at 0:30 when I hit it? Loudest thing in the car for the first 3-4 seconds is the trans. (?)

i did and it sounds amazing

not meaning to hi-jack this thread.
i opened this thread up hoping to find some discussion on amsoil synchromesh, gm synchromesh, or the bmw synchromesh but there was just a mention of any of them. 1 dissenting reply against the amsoil. i have a 96 6-speed that has a lightweight steel flywheel, a sprung clutch disk, and the zf doc countershaft shim. when cold or not up to operating temperature the rocks-in-a-can noise is minimal. this weekend i took the car on a run with the corvette club here and about 1/2 way to our destination, just after setting at a light, i came away and the noise really started in. the higher the gear the worse the sound. i am going to put the car up and drain the fluid as a starter and the fluid i was going to put in is amsoil synchromesh as i put amsoil on all my vehicles, except the diesel.
is there a consensus on which brand of fluid to use or specifically not to use?
thanks

^ GM synchromesh, Amsoil synchromesh, or the Pennzoil stuff is OK too for shorter-term use. Some people rave about the Red Line light shockproof oil but I don't know anything about it.
Personally I use the Amsoil. My 2nd choice would be the GM stuff.
Do NOT use the BMW 10w60 engine oil, that stuff belongs in BMW engines.

^ I agree. Had clutch engagement issues thinking it was the hydraulic equipment, but after rebuilds of the master and slave failed to change the condition, a fluid change to Amsoil solved my problems.

I too use and would recommend the Amsoil. I noticed a much smoother and quieter transmission immediately after the fluid change. Although I still have the original DM flywheel and clutch.
