At one time A1 had an issue with the ECM's and their programs...

What was happening was they would read the key for ohms, this went to the CCM which said to the ECM.. "hey good code, lets start" and the CCM would tell the Ecm to fire the injectors... The issue was the program in the ECM would fail and IT wouldn't tell the injectors to fire. So I'd check the injector wires and see if you are getting fire when it won't start.

We had a 91 in our shop and the only way we found out was we cut into the ohms wire to the injectors and applied a square signal... the car started every time, without doing this the car would start one day and then the next it wouldn't, next day it'd fire up again... go figure.. It drove us nuts for about three weeks.

I'm not saying this is your problem but I'd sure check to see if the injectors are getting signal when it doesn't start... If its not then I'd take hard look at the ecm. We had to send ours out and have it re-programmed.
