Default 1986 Headlight Motor Small Gear (Black) Removal

I want to know how to remove the smaller gear to replace it. I have been using a punch trying to get the pin out but; it didn't even move a little. Is there trick??? I really don't want to keep hitting it with 30 year old plastic around it.

thanks for any information.

Have you seen Cliff Harris's post on this procedure? While you've got the motor open, be sure to clean the two limit switches. These limit switches are actuated when the armature shifts in its bearings when the headlight door hits its stops. Apply some light weight white grease to the motor armature bearings, so the armature can shift positions easily.

Cliff's post is good but it doesn't address the smaller (black) gear. The larger gear is easy to change.
thanks
