Default 1986 C4 Corvette EGR Tube Clamp

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately, my EGR tube clamp cracked.

Does anyone have a recommendation for where to get a similar EGR tube clamp from?

Many thanks,

Ved

Hi. I have the same problem on my 86 convertible. I did a top end rebuild (head gaskets, heads rebuilt, etc). I'm down to that stupid Oeticker clamp that those STUPID GM engineers designed. Did you find a repair for your car and , if so, what was it?

They are hard to find. I've heard of others using a heavy wormgear type hose clamp. The tool for the Oetiker clamps is : Oetiker 1099 Pliers made by Knipex

Unfortunately I never found the replacement, despite looking for a few weeks. My clamp cracked right at the top of the little ear lobe looking part, so I put it around the EGR tube and crimped it tight with a pair of those Oeticker clamps - or whatever I could get around the lobe to crimp it down. It has stayed on for a long time and I haven't had a problem with it since. Maybe this could work for you also...

I don't think they are too difficult to find.

Arbee, you are brilliant Sir. A v clamp looks exactly like what I need. Now I need to find one about 3/4" (for the tube), flaring to about 1" (for the flare). Thank you my neighbor to the North, "eh?"

Did you end up finding a V-clamp small enough? I'm not seeing any smaller than about 1.5".

I have not. Right now, I just have it hose clamped. Very frustrating that GM would "engineer" something so stupid! Let me know if you come across any solutions. Thanks!
