Default Best Headlight Upgrade

Hey all,
I have been reading previous forum posts, but most are a few years old so I wanted to ask you all here to check and make sure to see if technology might have produced better options these days that I am unaware of.
I am about to order a set of Hella 003427811 headlights with H4 halogen bulbs to replace my existing outdated set. I want a glass lense upgrade for around $100.00 total and don’t really want to add relays or add ballast resistors for HID lights etc... Just a nice upgrade over original.
I think I am on the right track but wanted your oppinion before I pull the trigger.

Here is the link to what I am about to get: https://www.ebay.com/itm/332740172905

Thanks....

I bought those Hella conversions earlier this year and I've been happy with them. The cutoff is really sharp and if you take the time to properly aim them they're even better. I can't compare to any others though, I've only had what I think were the factory headlights and they were absolutely awful. I could have used the light on my cell phone more effectively. I'm using the bulbs they come with too, might look into getting a grade or two above just to see. For less than a Benjamin I think they're a good buy.

Personally I've never had an issue with stock types. That being said I've had some pretty crappy stock setups on newer cars by comparison. I did a retrofit projector in my daily for that reason. That being said, a lot of guys from the retrofit source swear by those JW's...

Thanks Dan,
Those look like they are probably one of the best on the market, but 4 times the price... If they were a couple hundred for the set, might be worth it, but I don’t drive much after dark anyway, so I think that the Hella upgrade might be a better fit for me anyway.

Kevin.
I saw the price and was a little shocked. I bought a year and a half ago and it was WAY less. Dan

Yeah, I guess I could get used to the look of the JW, but you are right, they would change the look of the car quite a bit. I think that the stock look of the Hella, though not as bright as the JW will be best for me, all things considered.

I had used the Hella Euro lamps on my old '92 and they were a huge improvement over the stock lamps. The beam pattern on the Hellas had a flat top so there wasn't much of any glare from driving in the rain. There was also a pattern that placed light to the right side of the road shoulder; also a great help at night in bad weather. There are a number of H4 type bulbs you can use. I used a Xenon bulb that was higher wattage (90W IIRC) and those bulbs worked fine with no problems in the electrical system. Also look at CIBIE lamps, they have replacement lamps with glass lenses and similar light patterns.

While the glass housings are heavier than the plastic 6054 lamps, I never had any issues with the gears in the headlamp motors.

I bought these and I am very happy with the light they project. Unlike other LEDs, they have a well-defined and uniform beam pattern with a clear sharp cutoff. The high beam could be a little more powerful but still ok. I know they are from china, but for me, so far so good.

Okay WOW, so for $95.00 for the pair, these might be a great option too... I am tossed between the Hella and these now.

So I ordered the OSRAM set to try them out... I am okay with their look and they should be brighter than the Hella’s...

who cares what they look like, you can't stare into an LED bulb like that without burning your eyeball out, and when the lights are off, they are hidden from the car

This was my rational as well... When I had my 2005 C6, it had similar style headlights, just laid out in a more sporty manner obviously, but they were small and out for all to see. At least these are pretty much never seen and the most importnant thing for me is how they light up the road while driving. I think I can get used to these...
I get the ricey perspective, but these aren’t as funky as others I have seen.... We’ll see, I can always go back to the Hella set up any time.
