Default Gasket Sealer...

Does anyone have a quick list of what gasket sealer to use on what gaskets? I'm starting to put the new motor together and I want to make sure I get it right. Also any tips or tricks - like for the intake for instance - would be helpful...I know not all gaskets need sealer, I've been told the TB for instance. Just want to make double sure. Thanks

Not sure what head gaskets you are using but most of them these days don't require sealer. The intake gasket could use some black RTV around the coolant passages but make sure you use the kind that is comp-atible with your O2 sensors....... it says on the tube. If memory serves me correctly there is no sealer required on the runners or TB....... The pan can use the RTV........ (OH I didn't notice what year you have) I use PERMATEX #2 that nasty old black stuff on cork gaskets but I will be flamed for that..... Old habits are hard to break........ and I only use it on one side ...... so I can take stuff back apart if I need/want to....... especially valve covers on engines that require some valve adjustment........ like those with solid lifters........hope that helps :seeya
