anyone try this exhaust?
https://www.corvettemods.com/C4-Corv...SABEgLNOPD_BwE
I know this pushes a little on the budget I had mentioned on a previous planning ahead thread. But I am wondering if anyone has used this and if it works to help an otherwise stock 1985 l98? I am certain I would add cats - I guess they would need to be small enough to fit staggered in the tunnel? Is 2.25 big enough to help with breathing - out?
I will not be able to afford to do headers and exhaust all stainless - I wondered if this would help until the $ comes in for the headers - which is an unknown variable.
any thoughts would be great
thanks
Sean

Since you mention budget, the best bang for your buck for performance and sound, would be to cut out/off your pre cats, remove your main cat and replace with a hi flow cat and keep your muffler.
This is a tried and true old school exhaust mod. Plus, no drone!

Is this the same corvettemods that was banned from the forum for not sending their parts out?

Thanks -I like the sound of less equals more - so to speak - I am not sure, I will check and see if I have the pre cats - should I try for anything larger in diameter with the new hi Flo cat? - Although I realize I am saying that without knowing the stock diameter -

Manifold-back duals are a great bang for the buck. I started with a similar 2 1/4” system many years ago mated to the direct fit flowmaster 50 series mufflers. Everybody seemed to love the old school true dual sound back then. Adding cats may be counterproductive.
Since that time, I’ve added LPE headers and a magnaflow x-pipe which changed the sound to a more exotic snarl, but still retained the 2 1/4” tubes and mufflers. Unfortunately, the headers and x-pipe didn’t add any power.
At my current power level ~500 rwhp, I may be leaving a few ponies on the table, but I’m too cheap to upgrade for the minor gains involved.
If starting over, I would look for a system already including a cross over or x-pipe and 2 1/2” tubes, but 2 1/4” tubes still get the job done.

I just home built mine with 3in exhaust that I had laying around. My car had flow 2 1/2in flowmaster mufflers when I bought the car, but they are 3in now. I probably have around $200 into my system. It isn't to loud until I put down the throttle, then she roars.

True 3in exhaust right off my shorty LS swap headers. The Speedpro header that I run originally came with 2 1/4in outlet , I cut out some new flat plates, cut a 3in hole into it and welded on two 3in 90 deg short elbows. The corvette exhaust is pretty basic set-up, mostly straight pipe and a few elbows. I used four 3in 45 deg elbows for after the rear. Cut off the inlet going into my flow masters really short and welded on the a 45 deg elbow. No cats. I have a stockish LS LQ9 6.0L swap in my 85 vette.

I guess the other question with some of this is stainless or aluminized? The car will (unless something weird happens) never see snow or salt - maybe some rain - but otherwise warm-is weather -
I thought also that someone said shorty header will not really help the l98? that true?

Question. I cannot afford $2500 for what I want until money comes in. Fair enough. Why spend $1000 today, buy a $2500 system in the future and spend a total of $3500 when I can wait and buy a $2500 system? If you need to choose between a set of cheap pads and food on the table vs expensive pads and go hungry, fair enough.
