I have a single mass Spec flywheel and Valeo pull-type clutch for a '93-'97 Camaro, Firebird and Trans Am that I want to use on my '91 6-speed. Which side of the flywheel needs to be cut 0.090" to avoid clearance problems inside the stock Corvette bellhousing? I assume the F-body cars used a sprung disc, and therefore, that I will need to buy one of those to replace the unsprung one that came with the assembly.
I can't answer your question about which side to cut on the flywheel, although I'd ***-ume it is the friction face side, since that's the only side I've heard of being machined on a flywheel. You are correct about the disk: you need a sprung-hub disk with any single-mass flywheel.
