Default Dash Board Illumination 1990 C4 Coupe Z51

So recently ran into a fault with my dash. Digital center section works occasionally with the lights off. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's not. Always works with lights on.

Instrument lights blipped out a couple of months ago and don't come on, bulbs are all good. All gauges and speedo function fine aside from lighting.

Is there any relation to this system and the Sun Temp Sensor in the center of the dash board?

Anyone else run across this?

Thanks
AG

You have a different dash than I do so can't help there. I can offer a suggestion though, check Batee.com
You will find a wealth of information there along with parts availability and repair services. I had Bryan repair my instrument cluster the other year and I'm more than pleased with the results.

Good luck

Bryan at BATEE.com is the only guy who I trust as he knows how to fix and make these digital dashboards last another 30 years. Another Satisfied customer speaks out!

Upgrade your dashboards light bulbs while you are at it!

It has nothing to do with the sunload sensor (which is part of the HVAC) but is almost certainly the photocell in the DIC.

It could just be a bad connection at the DIC. Remove it and use contact cleaner on it. Fixed mine.

I am not familiar with the photo cell in the DIC. I am assuming the DIC is the digital information center in the up right of the drivers dash?

Yes that's it. Check the connection and then:
