Only one knock sensor
I have an 89' coupe a/t
Just noticed I have only one knock sensor.
Have had the car several years, been under it numerous times , but only just noticed it now that there is a sensor only on the passenger side.
Should I just leave it? The car runs fine ,seems none the worse for wear. Am I doing any damage? What's the advantage of having two.
The drivers side has a brass plug. Was thinking of replacing with a drain petcock.
Any opinions?

You can put another one in but it has to send the output to the ECM and the ECM has to be set up to receive and act on the output.
Check in the RPO codes for a KC4. If you do, maybe someone put a brass plug because they were to cheap, lazy and stupid to replace the hoses and wanted to eliminate the oil cooler?

What you describe is exactly what is supposed to be there. Driver side has a pipe plug, passenger side has a knock sensor.... You can replace the pipe plug with a pet **** if youd like...no harm in that.

Thanks all,
Thought there is supposed to be two sensors.
There is no connector , and the PO disconnected the remote oil cooler. Which I would like to replace.
Will put in draincock
