Steering Rack ID; Z51 or not?
This should be really basic, but I confused;
Base rack = 2.5 turns, lock to lock.
Z51 rack = 2 turns.....this is what I've always understood.
With my '89 'Vette Kart project, once on the road I quickly noticed that the steering was much sharper than my '92 (base). I assumed it was due to less weight. But it seemed even sharper than that. When I had it up on stands, I spun the steering wheel and it turned not 2 turns, lock to lock....but not 2.5, either. I got 2.25 turns out of it -right in the middle. Thoughts?

2 turns or just a little over is a Z51.

I've read more than 'once' that in 89 there were some cars built with 13:1 steering (1.96) turns and midyear everything got a different ratio and they were actually considered 2 3/8 turns(myth I believe).There's threads I believe that mention that. What is the 'end-plug' letter code? Is there a B1X option on the SPID - it's been said no one has ever seen one with the B1X on the SPID I've no idea.
This is the only thread I stumbled upon this evening with a quick search.

MVMA specifications vary year to year but an '88 is mentioned to be 13:1 (1.96) 15.64:1 (2.36)
