C5 sport seats in a C4? do they fit?
Just wondering if anyone has seen, or done this. C5 sport seats installed into a C4?
Why? because I have an old set of C5 sport seats taking up space, and I'm thinking of installing the seat onto the C4 power seat frame and using the C4 power functions ONLY. not the lumbar and other stuff, those motors would be removed. C4 is a 1996 that I autocross, and it "seems" like the C5 seats would sit a little lower, and have the advantage of the harness shoulder belts coming thru the sport seat opening at the shoulders.
I need to retain the power functions of the C4 so the wife can still drive, (short legs) needs to raise the seat up and come forward a lot to reach clutch.
I tried a race seat and manual slide track, did not work for her, I liked it, long legs and all.
Would like to retain stock seat belt set up "as is" as well as the 5 point harness
I seeking info as to if it would fit, I know you remove the seat cushion on a C4 to install it, can't really do that with a C5 seat, at least not the same way.
My head (with helmet on) hits the targa top, so racing in rain is a bit challenging, if I could lower my butt about 2 " it would be excellent!
any info would be appreciated.

Mine had c5 seats in it when I got it. They don't fit well at all. They were only bolted to the front part of the seat sliders as they don't fit on the power frame sliders. A little to wide and block access to the console. I took them out and replaced with the correct sport seats for my 88.
I would not recommend it.

It is said here that the transparent targa gives more headroom than the painted targa IDK.
Hated the seats in the 99 FRC I had IMHO they were wide & flat.
Maybe shave some seat foam from one seat bottom for headroom for you, swap seat bottoms when the Mrs. drives or get her a pillow to sit on.
Or: Install the race seat for track days.
Good luck.

Shaving seat foam from the C4 seat bottom as suggested by Churchkey would work. You can also try removing the two nylon support straps that go from front to back under the seat cushion itself. That should lower you at least an inch and can be easily replaced to increase the height and allow normal adjustment when your wife wants to drive the car.

You could shave the seat foam and swap for a Norwegian wife.
