Default 1986 Corvette will not stay running

Need help in identifying this problem.
Someone stated it is because of the security system?

Cat will start and run then shuts off. Fuel Pump is Ok, fuel Pressure Ok - no spark?

It has new distributor, wires

Any ideas?

Thanks Ed

its not vats, fuel pressure with key on, while cranking, while running poorly, after it dies.

test for spark by either arcing somewhere downstream of the dizzy (wear gloves!) or put a timing light on and see if there is light.

once thoseareanswered, then whats The history on the car? For example were you able to use it just a week ago fine and then this just happened? Or did you just pick up this project? Depending on what the answer is will direct from here

.. If the ECM does not see active ignition pulses from the Ignition Control Module , the engine will start but will not run . The ECM is thinking that it didn't start Is your new distributor correct for Electronic Spark Control ? The ICM should have 7 pins the ICM may be defective ..

You sure? I disconnected my oil pressure switch. Got 0 psi. It seemed to start and run.

my understanding is that ops is reverted to only if fpr fails to activate pump.

interesting test would be to disconnect the fpr, and the ops, see if it starts and keeps running.

What has the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) got to do with it? You disconnect it and the pressure goes to max.

I wonder about this. If he has a gauge hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator port and the ignition shuts off suddenly, wouldn't the pressure hold (assuming the system is good) for a few minutes since the injector pulses stop suddenly? Makes me think ignition module at that point.
