Please help - 1993 corvette side markets and back lights not working
Hi--
When I turn my headlights on from the switch next to the steering column, only the front head lights turn on. When I put the car into reverse the back up lights turn on however the back lights red are completely off and won't turn on unless you use the emergency lights or press on the brake. The front side markers next to both blinking turn signals will not turn on as well. It's weird because when I changed all the light bulbs it didn't work the first time and then the second time i turned the car key in the ignition it worked and everything worked. Could this be a bad headlight switch? I'm thinking maybe a loose wire because there is an aftermarket viper alarm installed but not totally sure.
Any help appreciated.

Does the parking lamp mode work? I'm not sure if the 93 has the pull out lever like the older ones. Try cycling it and checking the park lamp fuse.

Lets start simple. Have you checked the taillight fuse in the main fuse block? It controls all of the taillights, front markers, and the license plate light.

When the switch is in parking lamp mode no lights go on. I just replaced the headlight switch and it still doesn't work. Where is the park light fuse? All the main fuses are fine including the taillight fuse. I have a ticket for no tail lights thats due Tuesday so I'm pretty desperate at this point. thanks for the help

Fuses 6 and 16 are good?
you can check to see if they're getting power.

Well, I just went to double check the fuses again and before I did that I turn on the headlights and what do you know parking lights turn lights and all lights are once working again. Any idea on what is causing it to work and then not work? The fuses are fine 6 & 16.

You should check the grounds in the back of the car. I was replacing my antenna and the ground strap was broken. It had corroded all the way thru. Kevin

Okay just noticed another really bizarre item with the headlight switch. anyway the dimmer lever is stuck on the headlight switch like locked up. Another reason for me replacing the headlight switch today before knowing exactly what was causing the light issue. Anyhow now both headlight switch dimmer levers are locked... What could cause this?
Where are the grounds located behind the back tail lights? Thanks again

The ground on my 89 Vert was just behind the drivers rear wheel well. I found it was bad when I changed out my antenna. There's probably another 1 on the other side also. You have to remove the rear wheel and liner to access easily. Your headlight switch might just need the 2 bolts tightened that hold it on. The switch is located on the steering column. You may have drop column to access more easily and if bad change it. Kevin
