Default Trunk or tailgate door switch

Hello all,
The switch that opens the tailgate of my C4 and is on the driver's door does not open the trunk,
it opens with the yellow button in the armrest,
can you give me the reference of the door switch and where to find it,
in FRANCE there is none,
thank you in advance,
friendships from France
Didier

merci d'avance,
amitiés de France
Didier

kind of weird, mine was like that, somebody here told me to turn on the courtesy lights and off, with the headlight switch, and the door switch would work....it did, and they still work....

does the switch on the passenger door work?
does the switch work if you turn ON the interior lights by rotating the headlight pull ****?

i doubt its the switch unless it has taken some sort of damage. more likely you have an issue with the dimmer.

How interesting
My door hatch switches stopped working recently (Centre console switch still works). At the same time the timer on my courtesy lights stopped working. I have been trying to find something common in the FSM electrical trouble shooting guide but so far no luck.

it its the coutesy light delay timer module.

you can remove it and modify it to work without the delay feature. or replace it with a new one. remove passenger seat and you will find it with a bit of tape holding it. search google for this and u will find it.

Hi thanks for your reply.

My car has been converted to RHD so things aren’t always where they should be. I have located my delay timer module behind the dash on the (now) passenger side. It’s probably based on a 555 timer so it should be pretty easy to fix.

What I am trying to work out is how the courtesy lights are related to the hatch switches.

The hatch release relay is connected to ground to activate the release. The 'ground' for the door hatch switches is the white wire dome light circuit. So the dome lights have to be ON(white wire grounded), for the door switches to function.
Thanks so much. I just checked and my hatch buttons work when I switch the interior lights on so my mystery is solved. I have just found a circuit diagram and some info on the interweb (not a 555 timer but a classic transistor timer circuit). Looks like it will be pretty easy to fix. If fixing electronics is a challenge for anyone reading this post it looks like you can bye replacement boards now for about fifty bucks.

Hi Didier
Is your courtesy lights delay timer module working? *Fix it and your hatch switches will work again.
ihatebarkingdogs just explained why in this thread.

Hi all
i just fixed my courtesy lights delay timer module. I found a great document on line which I have attached. It turns out the module doesn’t use a 555 timer after all but rather it uses a more traditional transistor/capacitor timing circuit.
Anyway the document I found suggested that there is a power transistor that does the actual switching of the lights and that is the component that usually fails. Be lazy I replaced that component without and additional fault finding. Hey presto it started working, but that’s not the end of the story. I left the car for half an hour and when I returned the courtesy lights were back on. Turns out that the electrolytic capacitor was dodgy so I changed it and the module is working perfectly now.
Hope this helps and a big thank you to the bloke who took the time to create the attached document.
