Hi Raya, we offer a few different options for replacement catalytic converters that will be much more affordable than new OE units. We have included the EPA-legal part numbers for your vette's model year below. You will notice there are both direct-fit and universal (require welding to install) styles available. If you need help locating an authorized MagnaFlow dealer, we would be happy to point you in the right direction. Please feel free to contact us at 1-800-990-0905 anytime!

93487 - front Y section, direct fit
93441 - rear, direct fit
53005 - front left/right, universal
94006 - front left/right, universal
94019 - rear, universal

2 or less depending on your conditions. Get the car jacked up, have a drink, turn on air compressor, get the tools out and find the right socket, have a drink, unbolt the old one and take off the band clamp, put new one, have a drink, bolt it up, have a drink and start it up.

2 hours at least. It's not hard, if the bolts on the exhaust are not rusty. My car was from Nevada and there was no rust.

I jacked up the car used 4 jack stands on all 4 corners.
Removed the Y-pipe from the exhaust manifold (3 bolts each exhaust) 2 bolts on the rear cat 2 bolts on the cat hanger.
There is an air injection pipe from the air pump to the Catalytic converter that has to be removed.

Do the reverse to install the new one.

The car has a richer exhaust sound with the straight Y-Pipe.

Moved to Florida where the have no smog tests, so it's OK to remove everything here.

Run. The only thing they have is if you don't use band clamps and it is harder to remove the cat if the ring has dug in deep enough.

If you don't want to run it, you can take the hose off and remove the AIR system and run on the cat alone. I am running the cat to muffle the noise. I tried hollowing it out but it was way too annoying for the wife and myself so the cat makes it somewhat tolerable.

You are not using the AIR tube, are you? If not, don't forget to plug it up.
