I just did a lot of decision making myself on Long tubes and decided to go with the Hooker 2151's ceramic coated. a buddy recommended and I couldn't be happier with the fit. pretty sure there will be any restriction issues on my cam only LT1 with the 1 3/4" tubes

When the motor is done and the headers are in I want to DRIVE the damn car, not take it apart AGAIN
Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers during your engine break-in period to avoid damaging your coated damage. Please call Hooker tech service at 270-781-9741 for additional information regarding ceramic coated exhaust products. The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture build-up. Hooker does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty. Hooker long tube headers do not come with header reducers.

This is something new to me. So if I'm reading it right, I have to put back my old exhaust system (manifolds, cats, rest of exhaust), break in THEN uninstall manifolds/cats and install headers....what a PITA!

The purpose of the "D" was to present a "wall" to the back-rushing exhaust gas pulse and help with scavenging. Check your OEM shortys and see if the tubes are round or "D" to match the head ports.
I liked the coolness and look of coated steel LTs but think I'd now go with SS for longevity.

One of the issues is that the mounting holes for the screws are offset on the D shape flange and Stainless Works' is like all other O ports, they have centered holes on the flange making the header too low and has marginal if any seal. They want us to fit a square peg in a round hole and be happy.
Maybe all the guys elongate the mounting holes to make them fit and call it done. I just don't half *** things that way. Been puttin' cars together for about 30 years. If I buy a product specific part , I expect it to fit. I can play a little as nothing is perfect but there's a limit.
This being said, the 1 5/8 primaries on Stainless Works might just be ok to correctly overlap the flange and offer some seal surface. Restriction is not a worry going from D shape to O ports. As long as they overlap good. But how does the rest of the kit fit and plug into the rest of the exhaust?
Thanks for the input.

I haven't built anything with a flat tappet cam in over 25 years, so I don't have to deal with the moderate RPM 15 minute break in where everything you double checked goes wrong.
