Big brakes with shelby series 1's
Has anyone here successfully been able to run bigger brakes on a C4 with shelby series 1's without the brakes rubbing? I have 4 piston wilwoods on with mine right now but I'm not particularly a fan of how big of a spacer I'm having to run to make them fit. They also still hit under heavy braking. Anyone ever ran C5 brakes with shelby series 1's?

C5 brakes are not any bigger than c4 j55 brakes, so they should fit. Also probably not worth upgrading to. C6z brakes are, but you need 18s at least to fit them, or maybe some really special 17s?

C5 brakes with Shelby wheels will require the center moved to the outside of the barrel, then run a 1/4" wheel spacer with longer studs.. ( well threaded to the end anyway)
I am running Wilwood 6 Piston Narrow Superlites on my 1990 with Shelby's, they fit with the centers on the inside of the barrel, however due to my tires, I have the centers on the outside for a better fit to the wheel well (No spacer)
Hope this helps

Don't base your information on that J55 and C5 is the same, b/c it's not.

While the rotor diameter is smaller from a C5 to C4 (12.9 to 13.0), the width on the C5 is greater (1.25 to 1.0). This will automatically require a larger casting of the caliper on the throat area making it bigger.
