DRM Power Steering Hose on L98
I have searched and can only seem to find pictures and info on LT1 cars who swapped to the high pressure hose that DRM offers. The website says it fits '90-96 and I have a 1990 L98. The adapter fitting goes right into the inside edge of the pulley and I cannot get the hose on. From what I can tell (RockAuto photos) the pumps looks to be the same where the fitting goes, but is there something different with the pulley on an LT1? Anyone else run into this issue? The pulley has some marks on it like it has been pulled off before. Perhaps a previous owner pressed the pulley on too far?

The hub on the pulley is normally flush with end of shaft. I would look for a different(shorter) adapter for pump. Hydraulic supply or local oval track supplier. Speedway Motors lists a variety of options. You may have to reposition pulley to install; then press it back in place.

I stumbled across this today. It would replace both the current restrictor and the adapter. It should give me the room I need. The reduced flow probably wouldn't be ideal for a street car, but mine is a race car so it lives at higher RPM.

I had the same issue with the DRM p/s hose. I sent it back and I'm surprised they still have it advertised as fitting the l98 cars. Let us know if that fitting works, I would like to get the DRM unit on my '91.

Randy is helping me solve the issue with the L98 pump/pulley combination, but it would be helpful if anyone had measurements for the LT1 pulley. Diameter, widths, hub offset, etc. Would someone with an LT1 be willing to take these measurements? or have an old pulley laying around?

Randy spoke to Turn One about the flow restrictor, and it should give us enough room to put the hose end on without hitting the pulley. I have a fitting on the way, and the flow has been sized appropriately for Corvette track use. I will update this thread when the fitting arrives.

Just wanted to give an update on this. The fitting from Turn One arrived last week but I did not get a chance to install it until the weekend. I had to press the pulley off a little (not all the way off) to get the hose end on, but then pressed the pulley back on. Its close, but should work.

Looks good but very close. You will want to be sure belt is running true. You should be able to sight down belt at idle and belt is straight across all pulleys. Misalignment will normally wear edge of belt first. You also might check p/s pulley didn't walk after a long test drive.

The fitting supplied with the hose kit is a special M16 o-ring fitting for power steering systems that screws into the flow restrictor. I replaced the flow restrictor with one from Turn One that has -6AN male threads on one end so I didnt need to use the adapter supplied with the hose. I do not know what threads the flow restrictor has that goes into the pump housing.

Drifting
2024 and this issue still persists.
DRM has this part listed for 1984-1996 Corvettes but it does not fit either my 1985 L98 power steering pump nor my 1991.
They need to appropriately advertise this product.
Very annoyed.
