Default possible ground issue

I'm trying to troubleshoot a whistling sound coming from my rear speakers also the display numbers on the climate control will blink and distort. I've been told it could be the battery ground and a second ground strap may help the issue. Any ideas. Thanks

Bose or base radio? HVAC control blinking may indicate fault code.

Default possible ground issue

Thanks for your reply. The radio is a Delco Bose with a cassette deck. The door and front dash speakers produce very little or no sound. The rear speakers crackle and whistle when I turn the radio on. The whistle lessens after the car is running for a couple of minutes, but is still there .I did have to disconnect the power antenna because the motor kept running so now the antenna is manual. The climate control display works but sometimes goes on and off and other times the display is distorted with lines and symbols. I was told to check the battery ground. When I did I realized the negative post was a little stripped which caused the cable to move easily. I replaced the post and tightened it which helped a little. The radio didn't whistle as loud and the display didn't distort as often. I didn't however completely fix the problem. I realize the systems are 30 years old, I watched the video you sent and the off light is not flashing on the climate control. I bought the car a year ago as a toy I owned one in 1975 and always wanted to get another one. It's just a driver 87,000 miles some paint defects and worn interior but still a fun car to drive. I don't mind playing around with it a little I just don't want to play too much with electrical. I don't want to put a lot of money into the car because I plan on upgrading to a newer 2000 - 2002 model next year. Thanks for your reply any thoughts would be helpful.

You may need new amps for speakers. Each speaker has an amp. Amps have a habit of failing leaving little to no sound. Bad amps can cause other speakers to have issues. Bose radio not always thrifty to get working. You might consider aftermarket stereo.

Don't forget that if you replace the radio with an aftermarket unit, you will need to replace the speakers as well!
