Oh what the heck, given all of this detailed information I'll take a crack at solving this...
Based on the in depth information you provided, the following is a list of items for you to check:
1. Have you checked the air in your tires?
2. Does your heater function normally?
3. When did you replace your wiper blades last?
4. Have you vacuumed your carpet recently?
5. Do you park on an incline?
6. What is the barometric pressure at the time of failure?
Please review the above list and let us know your findings. Based on your symptoms, these 6 items seem the most likely to me.

Burning Brakes
I had a new vehicle that did that. The dealer had it in several times before they removed the gas tank and cleaned out the shavings in the tank. The gas pick up would get clogged and it would stop running. After it stopped, the shavings would drop back down.
