ZF6 Shift Points for Different Rear End Ratios
Hey all. Just bought a 96 LT4. Was thinking about swapping out the 3.45, so I ran some numbers - they might be useful to the forum at large.
Below are the speeds (in mph) at redline (6300 rpm) assuming 285/40/R17 tires for various diff ratios.
Also, question: does the vette 44 carrier accept a 4.10 ring gear?
FINAL DRIVE RATIO vs SHIFT SPEED IN MPH AT REDLINE
Rear Ratio: 2.59__2.73__3.07__3.31___3.33__3.45__3.5 4__4.10___4.56__
1st (2.64): 71____68____60____56____55____53____52__ __45____40____
2nd (1.78): 106___100___89____83____82____79____77__ __67____60____
3rd (1.30): 144___137___122___113___112___108___106_ __91____82____
4th (1.00): 188___178___158___147___146___141___137_ __119___107___
5th (0.74): 254___241___214___199___197___191___186_ __160___144___
6th (0.49): 383___364___323___300___298___288___280_ __242___218___

Yes, I'm running 4.10's in my 94.

I don't know what happened, but the image that was intended to be embedded in the OP didn't work right. But based on the subject title, if the topic is about changing the shift points with different rear gear ratios, then the answer is: No, from a performance perspective you would not change your shift points with different final-drive ratios. They should remain exactly the same.
