@GregMartin I called Jegs and they said it would come right from Eddie's so they'd have no way to make sure it was of good quality. I also don't know of any good machinists in my area that would be able to fix something like a bad intake. Both of the ones I received had bad ports, a bad mating surface, a top plate that didn't line up, and a coolant temp sensor that was drilled incorrectly. Maybe I should just save up my money from work for my first year at college and do a 5.3 swap next summer.

I started looking at wheels instead of messing with the intake but the only ones I find are 17x9.5 or 18x10.5. I would like 10.5 or 11 wide in the rear with 17" diameter and I can't find the ZR1 repros with the right offset so if I can't get my hands on a good intake it looks like I'll be holding onto my money.

Nothing wrong with holding on to your money. An LS swap is a big job and will require quite a bit of cash to do it right. There is a 6.0 swap thread on the go at the moment that I have been reading with interest. For all that effort I would go a 6.0 or 6.2. My SS commodore has a 6.0 LS engine. It’s designed L98 which confuses corvette guys. But essential it’s an LS 2 block, pistons, rods, crank; with LS3 heads and intake. The SS is a heavy car but it goes like stink. I can’t imagine what a weapon a C4 would be with that engine probably a widow maker.

@GregMartin there are threads where some people are going for as cheap as possible but that just seems to make it take longer and then the thread never gets finished. Maybe if I start saving now it would be a possibility but knowing me I'll break something or make a stupid decision along the way. I'd still be interested in a Renegade before I go to college though just so I don't get embarrassed by a V6 on campus. All jokes aside, I think it would be cool to wake up the CFI motor even if I do plan on doing something different in the future. The only problem, as you know, has been finding a good one.

With all of these sob stories about the Renegade manifold, I'm sure glad I decided to modify my original manifold! My '84 runs great!

@Hot Rod Roy that would be a possibility if I new a machinist that could do the port work and IIRC I read somewhere that a good Renegade is better than a port, but that does't really matter if I can't get a good Renegade.

On a bone stock motor, they both will be pretty much the same. Once you start modding the renegade is the way to go.

@84 4+3 makes sense I guess.

@GregMartin MIne probably would too with a GOOD Renegade.

@Buccaneer Any last ideas before I give up with trying to get a Renegade?

I hadn't thought of this until now but CFI was also on Camaros and Trans Ams so I messaged Hawk's Third Gen and asked if they might happen to have any good Renegade Intakes left. I'll update the thread when they e-mail me back, which I'm guessing will be tomorrow.

In post #80 I said this “Also you could ask some questions over on the thirdgen board. There are lots of guys there with crossfire F bodies.”

@GregMartin yeah I realize that now. I clearly missed it before or else I would have had that idea sooner.

I talked to Hawks Motorsports and they said they order them directly from Eddie's as well so no guarantee.

Just ordered one from Eckler's. I hope I don't regret this.

@84 4+3 yeah I know. I didn't want to but I have no other options really. They have a 60 day return policy so I should be fine and I only paid $584.81 for it so even if I have to pay return shipping I won't be out anything extra. If this doesn't work then I just give up.

Mine came from Ecklers but 84 4+3 would advise against it. I hope it turns out for the he best.

@GregMartin I wouldn't have ordered it from them with 84 4+3's experience but I know that you got a good one and they have a 60 day return policy. If it's not good I should be able to return it and be done with it. I just really hope this intake is good so I can get this done before I go to college. Maybe I need to pray really hard that it will be good.

Yea, they blocked my number and don't answer my emails anymore lol. I thought about tossing it through a window when I was down there but... Hopefully you're good. Like I said, when they called my car a piece of crap to my face, I was pretty much done. Sad thing is I can't even report them to BBB, they lost that accreditation a couple years ago and their online rtin is like 1.1 stars presently... SMH lol. You should be good. Worst comes to worse you swap it back out one weekend when you come home from school like I did mine.

@84 4+3 was it past the 60 day return point? Also, yeah, last time I checked they had a terrible rating with the BBB but as you said, they are no longer even accredited. I only order stuff from there when I have to. Normally it's fine, like Eckler's was the only place I could find the main air conditioning compressor hose I needed. I'm just scared to order something larger like this from them.
