Default An Introduction to Cahall Performance Transmssions.

Cahall Performance Transmissions is proud to be a new supporting vendor on this forum. CPT is owned by Frank and Gail Cahall, and we are located in Newark, Delaware, but we ship nationwide. Frank has 29 years of professional transmission building experience, with a large percentage of that time being spent in the performance arena. We take great pride in the products we provide, as well as our customer service. You will notice that our prices are quite a bit lower than other "big name" builders. Rest assured that this ISN'T because we're cutting any corners or using lower quality parts. We only build with the best parts available. We are a smaller shop, with less overhead. Lower operating costs allow us to offer the same quality builds that others charge upwards of $2000 more for. We currently have our 4L60E's in C5 Corvettes that are eclipsing 1100 horsepower and our TH400 in drag cars eclipsing 1500 horsepower.

We want to let everyone know that we're not just here to sell transmissions. Frank is a tech advisor on many other forums, and he will be happy to field any TH350, TH400, 700R4, or 4L60E questions you may have here. Would any of the other members be interested in a DRIVETRAIN section being added to the forum? If you're tired of your 700R4 or 4L60E's in your C4's continuously failing or you don't want to pay over-inflated prices for a build, please feel free to check out our web page to see what we offer.

What in your opinion is the 'reliable' power limit of a 4L60E trans? One that you can drive to and from the track with slicks with a supercharged 3700lb car with 3.73 gear and yank 3600 stall converter? What is your E.T. / power limit for a trans such as this, and is this your race or pro race trans?

A safe limit for our Ultra Pro Race build, in a 3700 lb car would be 1000 horsepower. Your Yank converter is going to be your limiting factor as they are not capable of handling anything over 700 horsepower, if it's 245mm. You would certainly be able to go with our Ultra Pro Race build with the 4-pinion planetaries, which is $2,950.00.

We do build them as well.
The draw back to them is that you have to supply your own core, and there is no ceiling for 'hard parts'.
