Unless you enjoy PITA jobs, you get it done professionally for $40.00...drop it off and pick it up 2 hours later... :D

on my 84 the fabric was attached to a hard styrofoam type board which was velcroed to the fiberglass hardtop. All you do is force your hand under it, carefully but forcefully pry it loose a little at a time. You can buy headliner material at most fabric stores. Buy some 3M spray glue, I bought mine at NAPA, cut material, spray glue, attach material, re-velcro. Very easy one hour job. Good luck!

If you mean the factory convertible hardtop. It is just glued on and pulls off easily. Many fall off. Mine did.

I didn't even worry about pulling off the hard foam backing. I just peeled off the rest of the headliner, and gently scraped off the glue from the foam backing. The hard part was pulling the fabric out from the corners of the frame without tearing it. I'll just pick up some new felt/fabric at a fabric store, because I don't want to bother with removing the old glue from the original fabric.

even though this is old, I've just done it, you need to replace the old headliner with new, it has a foam backing that the glue holds to, it wont hold just the fabric, hope this helps.

Hi Old Alaska Man,
I think we might be on different pages here. It's not the fabric. My fabric is fine. It's the entire headliner which is about an inch thick. This is a removable convertible hardtop. I need to find someone who knows how to keep that sucker stuck up there. We took the hardtop off and set it upside down, used 3M Super 77 Multi Purpose Adhesive and weighted it down with heavy books for several hours. It held for about a week. Even though the car is garaged, this blasted Florida summer heat might have something to do with it. Thank you so much for trying to help.
