I bought a replacement throttle body sensor from Autozone for my 85 C4, part number TPS113.
My mechanic swears up and down it's the wrong part. I've spent several hours searching every corvette parts site I can find, scouring google images, reading through the Haynes manual. I really think I've got the right part.
Can anyone confirm if Autozone's part number TPS113 fits a 1985 L98? I've found more expensive ones on other sites but they all look the same in terms of overall size, shape, electrical connection type etc.
One thing is for sure, either myself, or my mechanic, is an idiot.
The TPS has slotted holes which allows for adjustment in it's output. Stock idle setting should be .54v. You literally check this with a multimeter and jumper wires between the sensor and the harness. Loosen screws and twist sensor until you find the happy place (.54v)

Yeah I watched a few videos and it seems like a piece of cake. I originally planned on doing the job myself but I'm recovering from an injury and can barely lift the hood of the car. I'll just have to get to the shop and have him show me what he's doing. It sounds like that is the correct part. Just needed to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious before I tell him he's wrong again.
You should flex on him and tell him he sucks if he's just bolting it on and calling it done. Too many people these days don't understand how things actually work and think you can just buy a new anything and slap it in place.
My house burnt down. Just change it out dude no big deal 200k on Amazon. With prime!
