A few weeks ago I was running thru some of the topics and ran across
one regarding the use of an MSD ignition box and what kind of coil was to be used with it, and which ones weren't a good match.
This has been on my mind ever since, and I finally called MSD to ask them.
I've basically got a stock L98 with an Accell super coil #140005 in the top of my HEI.
It's hooked up to an MSD 6A box.
The tech at MSD said that my coil and a 6A are fine together.
Stay with the "6" series box and you're OK.
For anyone in the same boat I'm in, I hope this helps.
I burned up 2 of those accel coils with my MSD Digital 6+ box within 2 (or was it 1) weeks time. I talked to MSD and they suggested that I get their low reisistance HEI bushing as the stock one is high resistance and can cause the coil to heat up incredibly. I have since put the bushing in and replaced my coil with the MSD HEI Coil.
