Default Valve Stem Seals????

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 1989 heads and had summit recommend a specific valve seal, but they don't fit over the valve guides... like not at all. I went back and found some CompCam seals that say they fit the L98 heads, but guess what....? They don't fit either. It seems that the recommended valve seals have an ID of .53 in yet the valve guides are tampered at 5.5 on top and 5.6 at the bottom. Has anyone replaced theirs and can recommend the ones needed for an L98 with aluminum heads?

These are what I used in my aluminum headed 1987...which is the same as your 1989. Worked perfectly.

Intake: FEL-PRO SS72527

If you have an automotive machine shop near by just have the guides cut for the .530 seals. Its a simple process and shouldn't cost that much especially if you have them broken down.

I also used those FelPro guide seals and they are perfect. They are a press fit down over the valve guide bosses, using a light tap with an appropriately-sized deep socket or other tool of your choice. You can probably press them down with your fingers as well.
