Default Accessory Plug Wiring

Has anyone else used the accessory plug wiring under the coin holder in their car to wire in a extra plug for a radar detector? I tried to wire mine in tonight and every time I plugged the detector in, it would blow the fuse. I tried wiring it with both the constant hot and hot only in run wires and blew the utility fuse or the cig-lighter fuse every time. Do I have a crossed wire some where or what? I HATE :mad electrial problems. Zane

The plug should have three separate wires: orange wire to the batt, pink/blue wire to the ignition, and black to ground.

I actually have a black ground wire - an orange wire that according to the manual is for a constant hot lead to the battery - and a brown wire that according to the manual is for a hot lead "with key only in run position". I tried wiring both ways and still blew fuses. Went thru 7 fuses trying to figure this out, finally up. I'm still confused  Zane
