Is your '84 an earlier production? If so, there was no SPID label, only a metal tag riveted to the side of the RH hood pin latch housing...this had some VIN info, paint codes and interior codes and that's about it. It's easy to miss because it's also black in color and blends right in. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure I've seen these on cars all the way up to the first 10K cars made....give or take. And if you don't have the metal tag, then yeah, some genius removed the SPID for you....Luckily mine came with a reproduction window sticker showing the options (or lack there of)....I still need to order a reproduction build sheet! Sorry if you already knew all of this, I just really like finding out and discussing all things unique to the '84 model year👍
All good. I don't have the tag but the mounting holes are drilled. It isn't that early a build but I have the early style door handles. Going through the car I've found a few odd things over the years. And stuff a bubba would not do either. Weird date stamps on panels, odd things that don't jive with the FSM. Nothing major just stupid little things lol.
It was a February 84 build. Last 5 of the vin are 33776 which is well out of the tag range.
Thanks for all your help guys. Especially @RPO Joe . Got the build sheet out this afternoon. Biggest issue is making sure the tank strap doesn’t twist. I used a pair of vise grips to hold the strap in place. Also used a 6 inch extension to loosen the 15 mm bolt. The car’s vin does match the build sheet. Haha. Also the order was put in on Oct 27th of 1994 at 5:41AM which means it came off the line 7-10 days afterwards. It was delivered to Midlothian, Illinois to Arrow Chevrolet.

Congrats!

Did you clean and lube the strap threads first like I suggested?

I'll modify my tips to include using Vice-Grips to prevent the strap from twisting while backing off the nut, and using an extension with the 15-mm socket.
Thanks for following up with photos of the extraction. Well done.
