Damn, I was not aware that Bob passed away. I used to sell his EBL through Zip, not sure why they stopped selling it after I left a couple of years ago.
I may have a solution for you if you would like to PM me, we can discuss further.
Thanks
Justin
Time moves on, I went with a Holley HP setup, but it’s a heavy investment for the excellent ease of tuning and capability. Some day it will be obsolete also, but it’s very common/popular across all of the V8 platforms, so obsolescence issues will be about supporting more modern and future platforms, will run the old Gen1-3 SBC TBC stuff for generations.
Holley is great with the bonus anyone will touch it. That being said, Bob's customer support was second to none. The fact I was able to order a (mostly) plug and play setup for my 84 and be driving it as good as stock in the time it takes to drink a beer is pretty outstanding.
But for support network alone, it's hard to beat a holley. Though I will say it's expensive for what you really get.

I think the value in Holley comes from the add ons. So if you get a Holley ECU and maybe a harness then it might not be worth it if you just want to drive the car and never mess with it again. But if you was a touch screen dash or to play with CAN bus I/O then Holley makes it easy. And the add ons aren't super expensive. Also things like boost or progressive nitrous are so easy on a Holley. But again that's because of the add ons.

I don't disagree in a sense. It is kind of the same thing apple does. Up front is expensive but everything just works. Nothing wrong with that either. The other problem I have is I remember pre 2020 prices on parts and that heavily skews what I personally think is worth it.

Another option is Megasquirt. They can do anything a Holley can and cost less. They aren't as user friendly but not that bad. You do need two boxes if you want transmission control though.
