Default 1986 Corvette Sniper EFI Conversion

I recently purchased a partially carb converted 1986 Corvette with a 700R4. Much of the engine harness had been blunt cut. Took the harness out to properly remove all the cut wiring at the bulkhead connector.

I’m installing a Pro Billett MSD Distributor, MSD external Coil and MSD 6A Digital CDI box for ignition control. A Holley Sniper 2 EFI system will control fuel delivery to the engine.

I’d like to confirm a few assumptions I have after spending a lot of time with the FSM and reading posts on the forum. Given the following:

1. Fans will be driven off a Summit Racing Adjustable fan controller that will use the temp sensor location that once fed the ECU.
2. TCC will be controlled with an American Autowire Lockup kit using the 4th gear pressure port and a standalone harness that replaces the original 4 pos connector. The speed sensor and wiring from the harness are still intact and will be hooked back up. The 700R4 is pressure controlled and relies on the TV cable. I have a FAST carb bracket that is designed for the 700R4 TV and factory Throttle cable connections.
3. Installed an Aeromotive direct fit fuel pump in the tank with a new sending unit (it had nothing in the tank). The original harness (3 wires) was blunt cut and stuffed in the bumper. I intend on powering the fuel pump by hooking the Sniper blue wire to the red Aeromotive wire – Holley recommends this instead of the factory wire in their installation guide. The Holley ECU will control priming and run functions for the pump. Will ground the black pump wire at the chassis and hope the sending unit wire off the harness I found in the bumper still works for the fuel gauge.
4. The FSM and posts on the forum indicate that the dash will still function as designed since gauges are direct wired to sensors on the motor. I can expect that the Fuel MPG, however, will not work (resulting from various things removed prior to my ownership).

My initial conclusion is that the ECU isn’t required and can be left out of the car all together. Hoping for a confirmation from those who have done similar conversations. Am I overlooking anything else?

Thank you!!!

You can remove the ECU, no issues, just bypass the vats starter relay in the center (big fat yellow and green wires)

found a picture on my phone from 4 years ago… bypass on left, used large crimpers.

Yep, VATS is already disabled. 👍🏻
