need your opinion , yes yours ! TC or GEARS first?
What would you do first on a 94 LT1, A4 3.07 ? Don't have enough funds to do them both at one time- 2400 TC or 3.54's ???
The two will be together within a year, so whats your choice ?? :boxing :banghead: :auto: :withstupid: :withstupid:

I'd say go with gears first. Right now I'm running an Edge Racing Converter (9.5" 2800 stall) with 2.59 gears. The taller gears really make that converter work. They keep the converter under it's stall range longer and that contributes greatly to heat build up (especially with the reduced diameter of the converter). I find myself holding on to the lower gears longer (which is still fun). I actually don't even use 4th gear until I hit about 80mph under cruise conditions.
With my setup (LT4/Hotcam) I think that 3.07's are a minimum. And the set in my kitchen needs to make the migration pretty soon.
3.54's would definitely make the stock car snappy and with a stock converter basic low speed throttle response would still feel the same ('cause you're not dealing with increased converter slippage). Also, since you're stock, at idle/low throttle speeds you wouldn't need the added slippage that a cammed auto car might need to run correctly.
Gears looks like the right way to go.

I would ALWAYS (!!!) go with the TC first........especially because you already have relatively decent gears.......you may never want gears after putting a hi-stall TC in.........TC with a stall of 2,400 to 3,200 for an LT1..........depending on your likes and set up..........

With 3.07s already, id try the converter first.

If you are planning on doing a converter, you may want to think about adding a few things to it as well, shift kit, maybe a bullet-proof rebuild too, depending on milage and future plans for the car.

You already have some excellent replies/suggestions.
I also have a '94 which had the 2.59s .... Just finished changing the gears to 3.31. Drove about 400 miles today on all kinds of roads including interstate travel. I know there are many proponents of the 3.54 & 3.73 gears but the 3.31s are just ideal for my needs. I have great accleration, good gear selection for my driving needs, and near perfect RPMs for cruising the interstate at 80+. And I still got 26 mpg
I'm almost afraid to think what an improved torque convertor will do .... but that is the next planned mod. Gonna live with this setup for awhile.
