Heck, outright replacing with a rebuilt seat track is, in my view, alone worth it to not have to take it all apart and put it all back together.
And not really all that much of a meaningful cost difference anyway, considering what they want for those few little plastic pieces on the eBay listings I've seen. Plus over 20 bucks shipping to ship those little things? Pft...

Your position on this could be correct, but....it assumes that the "rebuilt track assembly" is of quality parts used and craftsmanship. Many on eBay are "fluff & buffs" with Chinese parts and/or scabbed together OEM/worn parts...and are not thoroughly cleaned/serviced and are rattled canned rebuilds. The above recommended member (Richard) is this seller and this is the listing #....notice shipping is free!
Yes, it seems a little spendy at first...but if you factor in the quality of the filament he uses (strong!!!) excellent detailed instructions, extra "pills" included (shims for shaft ends) and the R&D to produce them....not to mention, he'll rebuild it for you free of charge, you just pay shipping....it's a great deal compared to the Chinesium alternatives!!! Personally, I would rather fix anything myself, so I know it's done right! And unless you're track/s have been sitting under water, they're likely in far better condition than any "random core" that's been "rebuilt" from eBay! I tried that route when attempting to source a unit to ADD a passenger power seat to the passenger side of my '84 for my wife...it was way more than $120 and it even came with all the grease and dirt painted black...P.O.S....returned it immediately and bought all the parts to make my own assembly individually, including Richard's rebuild kit and then I bought another kit to make sure my driver's side was fresh as well!!! One thing my Dad taught me is, "In the end, a cheap man pays the most"....words I've lived by when it really counts! This is just my opinion, I hope if you go the rebuilt route, you get what you pay for👍
This is my version of "Rebuilt":

Yeah, I wouldn't buy one of those. I'm smarter than that. Ha.

Yeah, me, too. But don't have the energy now.

I understand smarter than, when you can actually physically see what you're buying....but when they have a good seller history, post pictures that are fantastic ...but a criminal misrepresentation of what they actually send you...not much you can do about that...except return it and take matters into your own hands! Thanks for the compliment👍

I've always wondered whether my C4 had or has not been in a flood before. It lived it's entire life on the Florida coast, right where the hurricanes came in. There's no immediate signs that it has, but the question has always been there, unanswered/unverified. Oddly, the only rust on the car is on those seat tracks. Maybe I'll pop the seat and take a picture ansd see what others think might surmise as yet whether it may have been in some shallow flood water.
But, that was your own restoration in that photo? I didn't know that. As I mentioned, its is a nice rebuild. And good cleanup on it. That's about how I'd do it if I had the energy. The darned cancer medication does a real number on me all he way across the board. Can't really do a fraction of what I used to do. Sucks.
Thankfully my power seats work, knock on plastic, but they're slower than molasses.
