anyone with a tech manual what should the compression be on a l 98 thanks baldeagle

It varies from year to year because of piston/head changes throughout the line.

Your 85 should be 9:1

My 1984 thru 1996 Haynes repair manual states "lowest reading cylinder must be at least 70% of highest reading cylinder ( 100psi minimum)"

Just checked my 90 service manual (GM). Says that there should be no more than a 15% variation between cylinders and readings should be in 150 to 200 psi range. Hope this helps.
