My wish list for the future has at the top the Log tube headers. (and then the Superram..)
My preference is for Hooker 2149 ceramic coated with smog pipes.
In the Summitracing online catalog in the technical specification I read: Fits six-speed ZF transmission and standard five-speed” (five speed??!?)
I have an Auto and I need to know if they are good for my application.
I can’t believe that L98 corvette howners with automatic transmission can’t install it…
The part hok-16770 is the ‘Y’ pipe for this set and it is for to link headers to the stock catalytic converter. “Chevrolet: 1984-91 5.7L Corvette, for use with HOK-2149 and HOK-2151 Super Competition headers, 3 in. diameter, Y-pipe
This Y-pipe is made to work in conjunction with two sets of Hooker headers, HOK-2149 and HOK-2151. It will not only fit the headers, it's designed to work with your catalytic converter as well.
I think: " good! I want retain the main cat..."
I don’t want to buy this combo and when I will have on my hands to know that it’s impossible to install it on my 90 Auto.
I planned this mod in the summer or in autumn so I think I have the right time to evaluate all mods I must do (with you precious help..)....and save the money ..
-Thanks for your help in advance- -Beppe-
I just did an install on these and you will have no fitting issues. There are a couple things you will have to look out for. One being the motor mount bolt on the pass side will have to be installed backwards from factory. The #2 primary will have a hole rubbed in it if you don't. The second being #8 primary header bolt is a pain in the ..... You will have to make a wrench to get to that back bolt.
Yep I had to swap my motor mount bolt. Als oteh #8 bolt can be gotten to if you do it before hooking up the EGR tube. Otherwise I had to get it from underneath.
I did not experience any fitment problems when I installed my Hooker headers on my 91 auto. Only issues were the starter that I had to remove and #8 bolt. But if you are able to lift your car up on a lift then you won’t have any problems with that bolt. When I did it I was lying on my garage floor and I had to twist my arm in a strange angle to be able to reach that bolt, but on a car lift – no problems.
Oh, I had one more problem. I lost one of the bolts for the headers and it get stuck in between the primaries! Couldn’t get it out.
I didn’t get the Y-pipe. I made a custom dual exhaust system with two catalytic converters that I placed in the same position as the original main cat. Hope my picture that I posted is working.
The headers are real nice and I can really feel the difference. 0,5 seconds on the strip (I did headers, dual exhaust, ported plenum and afpr at the same time). And they sound sweet. :D
