That's a mouth full, your parts list looks great. Those AFR 220's are going to flow great for the cubes you will have.

Are you doing the build or are you farming it out?

That sounds pretty potent!

Your handle is appropriate alright :D You'll have a serious hammer under the hood soon from that nice list

Best of luck during the build-up.

Vettef6 - I sent you an email, the cam specs are 230/245 (@.050) lift is 622/640 114lsa

Ruby6spd - Race-prep is building the motor.

JD 90 383 - Thanks, I'm seriously thinking about doing DFI, I know you had great success with it. We will have to talk soon about that.

Hammer , that sounds like quite a nice setup. I will be VERY interested in your results. I would also love to see full flow sheets for the heads when completed. With that cam , which sounds pretty nice for a 396 , it should be quite powerful.......good luck. When do you expect it all to be completed?

I will hopefully be doing the same in the next year or two.....first up though, heads/cam/intake (mild setup for now - Hot Cam, mild head work etc.). :seeya

Thanks. I wanted to do the same thing heads/cam to hold me over, I spun a bearing the day I picked the car up from getting it installed. So now I'm involved in this...

IMO, the stock computer for me was a complete POS. I do like the DFI better(though it hasn't been track tested yet). Drop me an e mail if you need any help or information.

Well now, that there motor gonna make some go-go power. Grumpy, too. Verrry interesting :lurk: ....

If your ordering each part seperately, don't bother with the pushrods, they will have to measure and order the exact length needed.

Is the shop going to provide some sort of warranty? If not, have you considered some of the rather potent crate engines that carry on the order of 2yr/24K. (Just curious) :)

who is doing your head porting etc to get you that much flow? and at what lift?

afr competiton ported 220's flow 300 at .650 lift. and that's with them doing the porting etc themselves. 334 or whatever you said is alot!!

i could use some flow numbers like that...

Jim, That motor sounds great! What cam? Take your time in deciding the cam, it is going to make or break that motor!

Can't wait to see some numbers!

SonnyinVA,
Race Prep is doing all the work including the porting. The start with 220 bare heads and port themselves.

Zelement,
Here are the cam specs (for now :) )
230/245 @ 050” lift is .622/.640 w/1.6 and a 114 lsa

Not sure on the rod length yet. What size are you running, 5.85 or6 ?

Zelement
I'm looking for the power. I'm going to run the risk of emmissions with just about any cam here in NY. Maybe it will pass, at the right shop ;) . Worse case senario, I will change the cam.
