What brand and/or type oil filter for my C4
What brand and/or type OIL FILTER should I be using for my C4.
I always use Mobil 1 oil. Just changed it today and put back in some fresh 5w30 (Mobil 1)
Obviously it came filled with Mobil 1 oil from the factory ... did it also come with a Mobil 1 oil filter or a delco filter.
THANKS!

You got the oil right! There will a variety of opinions on oil filters. Mobil-1, WIX, Purolator, K&N, AC Delco (best is the Ultraguard Gold if you can find them) but NEVER a FRAM.
There is a couple of good articles on an oil filter study over on the ZR-1 Net. Go to wwwzr1.net and go to the bottom of the main page. On the right side, there are two links called Oil Filter Study #1 and #2. Very good reading and a lot of info on filters.

im using k&n. about $10 each so it is between cheap and mobil1, plus it is supposed to rate pretty high in quality.

I try a different one every time.
The K&N is great, because the casing is bullet proof, and its easy to remove with the nut tacked on the bottom of it. It's also much bigger.. so maybe it has more filter surface area?
The orange Frams are junk.. not sure about the more expensive ones though. I'm running the black Duraguard(?) Fram currently.

I scored a couple of cases of Delco Ultraguard Gold before they became "extinct". There may still be some out there if you can find them. I've written & emailed Delco but haven't received a satisfactory response about any possibility of bringing back the Ultraguards :(

Once again :) Go here, hit the forums... you'll find out a lot of surprising information. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com
Just a tidbit, the Wal-Mart brand oil filters (I forget the name) are the same as Bosch's (both perform quite well)... and if you do some digging on Fram, you'll find out that they are just as good or better than some of the supposedly "high end" filters.
Also, depending on the rpm range (and corresponding oil pressure) you may see a decrease in filtration effectiveness with the smaller micron filters (like the Mobil 1) due to bypass flow.
Plus you'll find out that your choice of air filter may have more to do with engine wear than your choice of oil filter (and Fram air filters are considered quite good at Bob's).
Spend some time reading posts over there. Terrific information.

Thanks for the great info.
Mostly ... I was just concerned, a little, when I asked my Chevrolet Dealer Service Advisor if they used a Mobil 1 ol filter and he said no we used a delco oil filter. They only use Mobil 1 oil for Corvettes and always use delco oil filters for this job.
Does this sound normal, Okay, even good?

Any Chevy dealer can still get the AC Delco UPF-44. I placed an order yesterday but you have to get at least 6 at $7.95 ea.

Re: What brand and/or type oil filter for my C4 (96TorchRedCoupe)
I ALWAYS use Mobil 1 oil and Ac delco filters. A few racer friends have told me use good oil, change it often, especially after racing or other severe duty and use cheap filters and change them very often. You never want to get into a blow-by oil situation. For what it's worth
