Red ZO6 calipers on a C4
Can this be done? Is it worth it? If I go with Grand Sport wheels I'd probably want either GS calipers or the red Z06 calipers. Are there adapters that I can buy?

 I am switching to C5 front brakes now. I totally agree that you should contact Superior Chevy and Jeff Kopp.
You might want to think about the red calipers :D I experimented on my car with just painting them red when I switched to the Y2K wheels.
I didn't like the look, nor did many other people. The red kind of broke up the sweeping line of the car with what looked like two "periods" Made the car look shorter (Y2K wheels have a tendency to do that too and with the red calipers it didn't look good IMHO)

did you get that cam installed or what
And, I don't think red would look good on cars our color. I painted one of mine black just to look at it for a while and I think I kinda like it.....

Re: Red ZO6 calipers on a C4 (Caboboy)
OK here are some more thoughts. Would I notice a difference between the C5 calipers and the Grand Sport Calipers? Right now I have the J55 calipers and my brakes are not the strongest. They are good but not great.
On the cam, Yes the cam is in and degreed. I had to retard it 4 degrees to bring it in spec. My old cam was advanced 4 degrees. I checked it three times to make sure and even checked 2 cylinders. Anyway, its dead on. The car is buttoned up except for the top end. I ended up removing the oil pan and resealing it properly. My runners are at a welding shop right now to weld the outside area so when I carve out the divider 1 1/2" down, it does not poke through. I also have spent a ridiculous amount of time adapting LT1 fuel lines to L98 rails. The LT1 lines use push on type connectors and I found the special line from a company in Canada. I fabed up all the pieces and it was a chore to figure out a safe route without hitting anything.

I think the GS is the standard C4 13" set up. Not sure on this.
Switching to the C5 set up could cost you upwards of $ 700.00. The adapter plates for the caliper brackets are around $ 290.00, and then you have a lot of other stuff to buy. Jeff Kopp at superiorchevyperformance has a complete parts and price list.
Give me a week or so and I will give you my opinion if it's worth it. The switch is costing me less than $ 500 because I got most of the high $ stuff on E bay

Thanks for the help. Let me know how you like the calipers. What do you do in the back? Keep the stock calipers and powdercoat them black?
Are the stock C5 calipers black with silver Corvette lettering?

Re: Red ZO6 calipers on a C4 (89vette)
I've upgrade my front brakes to a C5.
The calipers were gray. I painted them red.
To me it was worth it. I stop quicker too....
I think the cost was the same when I was pricing it at the time. (J55 & C5)
One down side to them I had to upgrade my wheels to A-molds. If thats a down side :D

Re: Red ZO6 calipers on a C4 (89vette)
I have them and like them very much.
It cost $975 for everything, including all 4 SS lines. See sig for details. The standard C-5 calipers are the same caliper as Z06 but are dark gray.

Very cool! I'm thinking that with a dark red car, Black GS wheels, and bright red rotors, it won't look right. Where did you buy the GM dura-stop rotors and the brackets? I wish the C5 calipers came in black.

Re: Red ZO6 calipers on a C4 (89vette)
I bought my rotor from gmpartsdirect.com. $119 each.
And the C5 brakes (Brackets, rotors, pad and calipers) from someone on the C5 Parts for sale. Didn't used the pads or rotors.
Just paint the calipers black. and use a drimmal to take of the paint off of the lettering.

Re: Red ZO6 calipers on a C4 (89vette)
I bought all of the GM parts from Jeff Kopp (18CarFan) he saves us big money and is a good guy to deal with.
The adaptors came from
http://www.electro-dynamics.com/brakes/brakes2.html
We had a group purchase, but it looks like they have a sale on them now.

I did the same thing. I have the Z06 with Hawk pads. You need the C5 rotor and the bracket from electrodynamics. It came to around $750 total for me with the hawk pads. I got the polished brackets and hardware. The pads have 40% more surface area, the rotors are thicker and disipate more heat, and the pistons in the calipers are much larger. Very happy with the result. They are identical to the standard C5 caliper except red. You may want to get the grey ones. Regardless, you can get them powdercoated anyway so its not so bad. Also, you can paint the rear to match.

How about the C5 calipers in the rear? And some 4 or 6 piston calipers in front??? (Brembo, Alcon, AP Racing, Willwood) :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
