Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (hippy)
I've installed 17 this week alone. It really depends on your area.
Here in Denver it would cost $219.00 for the windshield and 160-200 for the rubber moulding.
Just DO NOT use the cheapest guy you find! There are many areas to cut corners to keep prices down and that is exactly what they do.
Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (hippy)
I've just decided to do it myself. My buddy has done it before and is going to help me. Honestly it does not look that hard in the gm manual. I feel pretty confident I can make it look ok in the end. When I do it I'll post all problems and pictures.
Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (Tom 35th anniversary)
I have installed a few windshields, it isn't bad at all...just make sure you get as much of the old sealant off as possible. We used Essex Urethane to seal the new windshields. Great stuff...but dont get it on your clothes or hands for that matter....it is some nasty stuff and wont come out....
Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (BADMUDE)
Actually I have put windshields in before as well but as my years are progressing I've become progressively lazier in working on my cars myself. Taking it in on Monday to get a new one put in. Cost is going to be a bit higher than 350. Guess I will catch breakfast while it is getting put in, maybe gtech my buddies stang after that.
Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (hippy)
Make sure to get a good weather-strip, GM is probably best. Some after-market are too hard, and won't let the door glass seal properly. It will leak. Just my $.02. Good luck!
Re: Who here has installed a windshield... (hippy)
I had mine done last summer. I have AAA insurance with $100 deductible and I found a company that waived my deductible for the job. Cost to me=$0
I made them use oem glass too. :D
