ready to buy new opti and waterpump for a 94
after a lot of good info from the forum i have concluded that the opti spart is the source of my problems! i am going to replace it, along with a new waterpump. the car is a 94 with the non vented housing. i would like to purchase a new 94 opti and buy a 95 cap, so that i can hook up the venting. is this the best way to get a vented opti? also who has the best prices for both pump and opti, i have heard mention of a jason guy, but i forgot where he is from? thanks a lot,

Can't do it that way as one hose goes into the housing. (I guess you can, just would not be the same.)
Some guy in Florida has good opti pricings according to posts. I think his name was Jason.

Re: ready to buy new opti and waterpump for a 94 (pwrful c4)
i beleive dynotech has a great product, and i realize it is expensive for a reason(quality), however i do not believe they are producing opti's for 92 through 94 yet. also if i can get another 60k out of another new stock 94 opti for about 250 bucks. i hate to say it but i will not have the car that long. im sure i will upgrade to a c5 by the time i put that many miles on. the car has 66k on it now, and i do plan on keeping it for a couple more years at least. what do you think chance the design flawed stock opti for another 60k i will probally never see?

Went with a autozone duralast for my 94, the replacement one has a vent port on it $165 , haven`t added a vent line yet, I ended up having to replace tps also (low voltage), and did a coolant bypass

Local Vette shop in NH supplied new Delphi opti and I supplied NEW Gates lifetime warranty waterpump that I got from Rock Auto for $65. when my 94 needed this service.I put a 90 degree 3/16 vacuum fitting in pump weep hole and 3/16 vac line off to right side so I could see if it failed without getting new opti wet.Best price I could find for quality waterpump. Also did new hoses, thermostat, knocks, complete cooling system flush, new plugs, wires, serp. belt and pulleys. Should be good for another 100,000 plus miles. Also cleaned rad. fins that were full of bugs, feathers and sand,Had to pull out rad. for that. Now runs nice and cool at all temps in summer. Only wanted to do this once.
