Default EGR tube connection to Hooker 2149 Headers

Started my Header install project.

Driver side no problems.

Late 1986 coupe aluminum factory heads, automatic.

Passenger side

EGR tube connection at exhaust manifold has a clamp ring,
Hooker 2149 have a 2 bolt flange,

Do later year corvettes use flange to flange EGR connection tubes.

Has any one ran into this problem?

Any help or part location or numbers would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the world of header installs and lack of information in the public. :)

Yes, you are correct on the later C4s and the EGR tube. 87 and before use a clamp ring like you have. 88 and later have a flange with a gasket and two torx bolts. I had to buy a new egr tube when I put the 2149s on my 87.

If you snag a pipe for an 88-91 you'll be good to go, but you will also need to order the EGR tube gaskets (2 of them) or make your own.

Scorp508

Thanks for the quick response

EGR tube would be a GM direct item or would automotive parts store carry them.

GM will definitely have it, but I can't find the part # in my records right now. Hopefully someone else will chime in. :yesnod: I don't know if an auto parts store will have it or not. I went to autozone once trying to get the gaskest for the tube and they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Per scorp508 advise I called local Chevy dealer

Dealer faxed me a cut sheet for a 1988 emission.

Item # 1 Showed flange to flange EGR Tube connection.

list price $ 75.00 I got it for $ 58.00 dollars ran it through company account.

ordered gaskets, torx bolts same time. non stocking item, one day from Chicago warehouse.

Sure glad I ask the question, If I get a part number I will post

Default EGR tube for 1988 Corvette GM 1055728

Does anyone have one of the pipes? GM is discontinued and local part stores do not have it. Nothing on ebay either...

I'm at work, but I can check when I get home. I installed LT headers and did EGR delete on my 1994 about a year ago. I think the entire exhaust is still under my house. A photo of exactly what you need would help.

I am told by GM that this is on 88 & 89 only...

OK. I misunderstood. I thought you needed the later year part because of the headers.

You tagged onto a thread that's many years old. A similar question was asked a couple weeks ago and it was mentioned that '90 + part is likely the same except for the "temp switch port".

There is eBay options for both. Use the '90+ part# 10108433 for searches and you know the earlier.
