I installed hooker shorty headers on my 94 auto-no big difference if any.My mods are zz-4 cam,stock pcm[new pcm on route from pcm for less]open lid,msd & a few other little bolt ons.Do you think I need an adjustable fpr?The car just doesn't feel any faster-Im going to the track this weeekend[w drag radials]So I will know If Im crazy.They were a bitch to install & leak a little on the exh flange-any ideas?

I have Hooker Shorties on mine, too. It's hard to feel the difference of just a few ponies. She will run cooler under the hood, though, and they do look better, don't they. :yesnod: Good luck at the track.

I understand that the stock cast iron exhaust headers flow pretty well so shorties won't do much to improve performance.

The long tube heads help because they can be tuned to take advantage of pressure waves in the exhaust stream to keep the cylinders properly charged.

I was gonna do shorties at one time but all of the posts I searched said it was a waste of money. Look at it this way; it looks better and you lost some weight, under your hood and in your wallet.

You are right about the weight-I figure an honest 30lbs!! & they do look cool-to bad they leak a little.

As far as the leaking on the flange...with long tube headers I always had to use the copper doughnut looking gaskets (they are expensive but they work)
