took the throtlebody off and cleaned it throughly and replacing the IAC. I've been told this is the time to just splice the coolent lines together and eliminate them from the the TB. any comments ?????? :skep:
I'm sure that there is a minimal gain in hp, but the other huge advantage is that you'll then be able to remove your throttle body witthout messing with a coolant line
The throttle body area of my 89 was a "very busy" area of the engine. Lots of hoses, etc. I bypassed the TB by re-routing the hoses around the front of the engine. If you are interested in a picture, send me an email. I have not mastered the task of posting pictures on the forum.
I had it done while my water pump was being replaced. Instead of making teh engine compartment more messy by taking teh hose off on both sides, and then connecting them, I got a hose that would go straight to teh water pump instead of splitting off, and then replaced teh hose that is on teh other side with some new hose as well. Finally, I put dust caps on teh points where teh hoses connected to teh TB. Result: Very clean installation that you cannot notice unless you look for it.
