Knock sensor replacement....How do I do it? any advice?
I cant remember....is it that I just need to replace them real fast before coolant leaks out?
any other tips? I hope to finally cure this code 43. It is causing all kinds of lack of performance issue.
A scan tool reveals the computer has gotten real conservative with the timing, and shows knock (1 to 3 degrees) every time i hit the gas....
Any advice on how to replace them?
Because it is best to install the sensor with a non hardening sealant on the threads (permatex or equivalent), you really want the block threads to be dry also. Keep the sealant off the end of the sensor, just a little on the threads. Torque appropriately, Rrefill and bleed the coolant system. Easy work.
Make sure the wires and shields are reinstalled appropriately. Then clear the codes and fire it up. I think there is a tester for the knock sensors, but if not you'll have to replace both.
Good Luck
