My -88 stumbles at high speed
My -88 automatic vette takes off like a rocker from a dead stop but when the speed goes over 90mph it starts to "stumble". It feels like it runs out of power. Do you think cleaning Throttle body and new throttle body gaskets should help in this matter? Thats what I was planning to do. I'm also planning to get new IAC becouse idle is not very smooth. It stays at 600rpm when warm but it doesn't "soud" right. Like there's a miss or something..
I'm also planning to get my injectors cleaned. That should help also I bet

Re: My -88 stumbles at high speed (jutammel)
A high speed stumble can sometimes be caused by coil problems. It could be other things too, like a fuel pump. A fp pressure guage could rule that out though. Just a few thoughts.

you don't mention the obvious - a complete tune up.
New plugs (I recommend NGK, platnum or irdium), cap, rotor and wires. depending on mileage, you may want a new coil.

Re: My -88 stumbles at high speed (bogus)
I have done complete tune-up this summer, Ac delco plugs, wires, dist.cap, rotor, pcv valve, oxy.sensor, fuel filter, oil filter, trans.oil filter and of course all fluids also.
Mods are K&N filter and cut lid, Frisbee removed, TB Bypass, Airfoil, Pre-cats removed, Carsound high flow main cat, magnaflow cat-back.
Mileage is 76k.

And go with the new coil! I replaced mine when I did the tuneup last year and it runs like a dream now. As far as plugs go, it depends on how often you want to change them. I went with AC-Delco's and haven't had a problem in a year, but I know I'll need to change them out this winter after about 18 months of use.
