Trying to upgrade brakes from 12" rotors (JL9) to 13" HD (J55)
Called Chevy to find out what I need. Was told the only part difference on the two was the mounting bracket for the calipers and the rotor itself. I ordered 13" power slots and the mounting brackets and Hawk Pads. Tore everything down and on reassembly realized that the caliper would in no way go over the roter. Maximum tolerance for the 13" is 1.110" and the Power Slot is at 1.105". Should be good there. The Pads are 1 of 2 sold for my car. The others are .007" thicker. That won't help. I need amost a .25" more space to clear the rotor.
Is there a different caliper for the J55 option? All the parts I have seem to be in line with specs.

Yes you need new calipers. You can go with either "ZR-1" calipers or "Grand Sport" calipers. They are really the same thing but. In fact they look like your existing calipers but they will accept the thicker rotors. May want to look at my thread on C5 vs Baer brakes for more info.

Let me suggest you talk with Chris at Superior Chevrolet. Here is a link to a parts list his predecessor compiled. The contact point at the end says to ask for Jeff Kopp, but don't do that. Jeff got a promotion, and Chris has taken his place. Great guy, and very helpful. I think you will be very pleased with his prices, even after shipping.
